Television

Working on cookery programmes are as much fun as they are hard work. I begin in pre-production with formatting and sometimes scripting the food content, compiling recipes, sourcing equipment and food and setting up preparation and studio kitchens. When in production, I manage both kitchens to produce the food, set up the demonstration and do run-throughs with the presenter to ensure they are confident and their performance runs smoothly. And not forgetting the dreaded de-rig of course, phew!

Recent programmes include Neven Maguire’s ‘Food From The Sun’ for RTE filmed in Cavan and ‘Rosemary’s School for Cooks’ in Yorkshire for ITV, presented by Rosemary Shrager. Also, ‘Healthy Appetite’ presented by Ellie Kruger in New York for the American Food Network and ‘Barefoot Contessa’ presented by Ina Garten in the Hamptons, for the American Food Network and more recently the UK's Good Food Channel. Finally, Rachel Allen's new series 'Home Cooking' and also her cooking slots on the Good Food Channel's 'Market Kitchen' and Kirstie Allsopp's 'Kirstie's Homemade Christmas' for Channel 4.

It is crucial that food in commercials looks perfectly fantastic. I love nothing more than rising to the challenge with the buzz of the on set energy. My TV experience also includes working on movies and drama series. In these cases, the food isn't necessarily the hero but it still needs to fit in with the era or theme of the script so that it subtly compliments the production.
