About Blueberry Pie

So, my full name is Sharon Hearne-Smith. I have worked as a Food Stylist, Writer and Home Economist for the past thirteen years and created my company, Blueberry Pie in 2006. Blueberry Pie is a bustling little business that deals with just about anything to do with food in the media. Yes, food, all day, every day, lucky me, I know.

Long before Blueberry Pie was born I was consumed by food. I grew up in a restaurant (but not literally) which is a family business, and I also totally loved cooking classes in school. So much so I headed off and became a Home Ec. teacher myself. I went to London to teach lots of crazy kids about cooking bacon and cabbage and they taught me all about bangers and mash.

However, I always had a hunger to work in something to do with food magazines but wasn't quite sure what. I did some work experience assisting food stylists on photo shoots and testing recipes for BBC Good Food Magazine and I was hooked. I quickly traded in the blackboard and was off freelancing with my little kit of kitchen tools instead.

A whole world of food in the media opened up and I have since not believed my luck that I have landed my dream job. I have worked with many inspiring celebrity chefs going on book tours, setting up demonstrations at food shows, writing and testing recipes for various cook books and magazines and on cookery programmes including 'Ready Steady Cook' and three Gary Rhodes' series. I have styled food for movies, the most exciting being Bond's 'Die Another Day' and for commercials including Jamie Oliver with Sainsbury's, amongst many other fantastic opportunities.

My London days came to an end when I became old and sensible and thought I better come home to Ireland. So, I have been sowing some roots here in Dublin for the past few years and also reacquainting myself with the amazing food in Ireland. It has been exciting starting up again and meeting and working with new people and on new projects.

Settling down here was also a natural time for me to set up Blueberry Pie. It's a place where I can bring all of my work together for you to see. Hopefully it will whet your appetite!
